Review over the Kite Runner.
ReplyDelete“The Kite Runner Truly moved me emotionally!
Although there were turning points I never expected, the author did an amazing job of defining friendship, heartache, and betrayal all in one book. I personally thought the betrayal between Amir, Baba, Hassan, and Ali was a very profound moment; it was all connected by one event. The Redemption in The Kite Runner was overwhelming. Not only does is it revolve around a huge part of the Story it reflects the true meaning of this novel, I think. KHALED HOSSEINI never gave a clear picture of what was going to happen next; it keeps you wondering where all these events are going to take Amir and how they will affect him in the end. The intense moments and startling up rises kept my eyes glued to the pages! One of the Best books I’ve read this year, I give it two thumbs up.”
REDEMPTION
ReplyDeleteKhaled Hossini’s “The Kite Runner” is a dramatic thrill ride. When I read this book I feel the true meaning of redemption. The Character Amir has a big task of redemption when he betrays his friend Hassan which is really his half brother. He stood by and watched as his enemies raped Hassan. Throughout his life he remembers this and it stays with him forever. The task of redemption comes when Amir gets a phone call about Sohrab which is Hassan’s son. I believe that Khaled Hosseini did a great job in making the character Sohrab an image of Hassan. This gives Amir a chance to redeem himself and save Sohrab which in his eyes is really Hassan.
Love, Hate, and Friendship
ReplyDeleteThis book did move me in a lot of different ways. The compassion that Hosseini put in this piece. The different relationships among the story. A young boy trying to fight for his father’s love, but never got what he wanted. Two adventurous boys that have grown up together and are best friends. And when something extremely horrible happens tears the friendship apart. The love between a woman and a man, but doesn’t get to expand their love through a child, because the women is infertile and can not have children. Hosseini brought different backgrounds of love, hate, and friendship that in reality people go through everyday. There were many happy parts throughout the entire book, but there was also its down. But every good book has its differences. And I think that is why this book is such a breathtaking novel.
The Kite Runner In the end did in fact gain his good humanity back. Yes Amir did betrayed Hassan more than once, but in the end he regain his sense of being a good human being back. He did right again by taking care of Sohrab and actually going to go and get on after the war which basically destroyed everything. He got the courage to do what is right and to stand up against his enemy for he had which been running form for a so long. He knew for what will happen he had to face his fear to redeem himself again and to save Sohrab from his enemy. So yeah in the end Amir gained his humanity back again, but not the bad side of humanity which includes sin and betrayal, but the the good side of humanity which is standing for what is right even at a very bad and painful price. In the book it says that Amir does goes out to find Sohrab, but then he encounters his nemesis Assef who indeed has taken the young Sohrab from his orphan home. Amir has decide if he will save Sohrab or leave him and run away like he did when Assef abused Hassan, but Amir decides to save Sohrab.
ReplyDeleteThe Love of a Servant
ReplyDeleteHassan was a dependable, friendly, and affectionate servant. Hassan was reliable to Amir even though he was the one to clean after him. In the beginning Hassan and Amir are so close they almost seemed as if they were brothers. Hassan has an immense heart trying to do his best. Hassan was a courageous boy always fighting Amir’s battles he couldn’t win. Yet Hassan had the most terrible luck. He was rapped, but also accused of stealing when Amir placed money and the watch he had gotten from his birthday under Hassans mattress. Hassan didn’t deny stealing, he took the blame. As a result Hassan moves away and time goes on. Hassan starts a family, but never to find out before he is killed that Amir was his half-brother. Even though Hassan didn’t discover about this, he didn’t harm Amir with such pain as he did to him.
Quest for Redemption
ReplyDeleteWarning: Spoiler
The Kite Runner is a captivating book that draws you in and shows you how powerful betrayal, regretted, redemption and hope is.
When Amir betrays Hassan, the pain of guilt haunts him form that point on and influences a lot of his decisions.
The quest for redemption brings Amir back home after many years of absence. It brings him back to where it all began. In order to redeem himself Amir must face his past sins, and face his old enemies. When Amir gets badly beaten by Assef he finally atones for all his sins and though his body is broken his spirit is finally healed. After this encounter the last thing for Amir to do is to save Sohrab, the final thing Amir can do for Hassan.
Though Amir succeeds in getting Sohrab to America Sohrab is mentally broken, but hope shines through at the end of the book through Sohrab’s “shadow of a smile” like the sun finally breaking through the clouds after a long and violent storm.
Betraying the ones you love.
ReplyDelete“The Kite Runner” is a very capturing book that is filled with a lot of twists and turns. There are a lot of secrets that are kept. There are friendships that are broken and lost. Where dignity is chosen over life long friendships. Baba for example has the deepest secret that only he and his friend know. Baba is a very respectful, caring rich man. He is respected by the people of Kabul. Baba is also caring he built an orphanage for the kids in Kabul. He cared a lot for his Hazara servants Alli and Hassan. Amir was Baba’s one and only child that Baba wished he was more like him. What Baba doesn’t know is that Amir is more like Baba then what he thinks he is. They both have there secrets that make them betray and hurt the most important people in their lives. Amir and Baba both choose to keep their dignity and their title of being good people, instead of standing up and speaking out for those who have always been there for them. They live with the guilt in their lives knowing that the people that they cared most about would have given anything to help them in need.
Justin, I agree with what you have to say. I do believe Amir did a lot wrong to Hassan, but by him trying to save Hassan's son doesnt forgive him for what he had done to Hassan.Yet it was a way to recieve forgivness, but by also standing up for himself, Amir became a man.
ReplyDeleteJuanita, i agree with what you have said about Amir regaining his humanity back. He did many things wrong to Hassan and never said sorry. And he has had that guilt with him for the rest of his life. And when he went and saved Sohrab it saved Amir and Sohrab's life. So i completely agree on what you stated.
ReplyDeleteLauren, your review is true through the entire book. I agree that everything that he did wrong to Hassan or anyone was forgiven when he went to save Sohrab. The beating he got from Assef was coming. But i think when he was getting kicked in the side by Assef and he was actually laughing he could see too that he deserved it and that he is going to be forgiven from everything he has ever done. So i would also include that in your review.
Tasha, I agree with you when you say that Khaled Hosseini kept us wondering throughout the whole book when i read it i was wondering the entire time and i could never figure out what was going to happen next
ReplyDeleteHey Lauren, I agree about what you say about Amir paying for his sins he did long ago to Hassan is very true. Doing something great for Hassan was the only way that Amir would feel at peace.
Angela, I disagree because i think deep down inside Hassan did know that Amir was his half brother. There were many signs that Baba gave away to both Hassan and Amir that they were brothers.
Tasha, i agree with everything you said. Such as that Hosseini never gave a clear picture what was going to happen next. Each thing that i read also was surprising and i never thought it was going to come up. Such as when Hassan was shot in the street. I agree that the betrayl against Baba, Amir, Hassan, and Alli was in fact was a profound moment. So two thumbs up to you Tasha.
ReplyDeleteJuanita- I agree with what you have to say. At first i did believe Amir was a selfish boy with no sense of politeness. Yet when he grows up and save Hassans son he does get back some humanity.
ReplyDeleteJustin, I agree with almost everything ecept "Sohrab which in his eyes is really Hassan." I dont think Amir saw him as "really Hassan" , but as a the last piece that connected him with his half-brother. I think in saving Sohrab was the last thing Amir could do for Hassan and it was a way to redeem himself at last.
ReplyDeleteBrooke- I agree with this because with every novel there is a good side and a down side that is why we read books. It has to have a side which we all love and a side which makes dislikes the book itself. Angela- I agree to this because it is true what Amir did was unforgiving, but Hassan could never hate Amir. Which is why we all in some point hate Amir for what he did and for what he couldn`t handle himself. Amir knew that Hassan would never stand up for himself when Amir did things to him and so Amir has to live with what he did for the rest of his life. Lauren- I agree with this because this certain book has the tendence to draw you in a way that you feel the emotion of the characters themselfes. You can feel the betrayal of Hassan you into you.
ReplyDeleteLauren- I agree with what you say. Amir does have to go through his past pains, but yet i do believe Amir does get his forgivness from Hassan. "When Amir gets badly beaten by Assef he finally atones for all his sins and though his body is broken his spirit is finally healed." That seems so true Amir spirit is finally healed.
ReplyDeleteMonica, I agree with some points like Amir being more like Baba than he thinks ,but the Main Reason Baba built the orphanige and thing like that was to redeem himself and make him feel less guilty about his betrayal to Hassan and Ali, he did the one thing he despised most. He stold Hassans right to know who he is and Ali's right to know he was cheated on.
ReplyDeleteJuanita, i agree with what you said in your review. Amir did get his humanity back when he saved Sohrab. When Amir found out that Assef was the one taking care of Sohrab. Amir remebered when Hassan got raped. Knowing the regret Amir felt for running away, and not helping Hassan made him realize that he needed to help Sohrab to get the guilt out of him.
ReplyDeleteTasha, i agree that the book was intense and you really never knew what was going to happen. The betrayal of the the 4 was connected by one event. In the end the book ended with a very surprising end that you wished it never ended. I also agree with you with the, "Two thumbs up!"
Angela, i agree that Hassan did a lot for Amir and Amir took it all for granet. Hassan was probably a servant that anyone would want to have. Amir did a lot of harm to Hassan that haunted him for most of his life. Amir realized that he needed to change his life and do something in return to Hassan his half brother by saving Sohrab, who in the end is a symbol of Hassan.
Angela, I agree, but i think you could have added something like Hassan took Amirs physical pain, like beatings, and the rape and such or something to that effect to add to it.
ReplyDeleteJustin, I also agree with your statement. His sin does Follow him for a long time, but after a call of duty, to save Hassan’s son he’s redeemed. The way Sohrab also had the looks of Hassan made it more moving.
ReplyDeleteBrooke, I agree of the Compassion HOSSEINI put into this piece. The mistake that Baba had made towards Amir, Hassan, and even Ali was horrible. But the hope that came from Amir saving Sohrab was moving. All these events are what make this book so breathtaking.
Juanita, I agree that he got his Humanity back. Redeeming himself from the monster he created years ago; Like Lauren said “His Body was broken but his soul was healed.” But the Thoughts of running in the end never went through his head; he had been waiting for that moment for years, he knew exactly what needed to be done.
